Daddy's birthday day out!

Wednesday this week was Daddy's birthday and we all went up to London for the day. It was ace. First, we went to the 'Marvellous Maps' exhibition at the British Library (where this photo was taken), then we went for a lovely relaxing lunch, before heading over for a coffee and a snack in St. James's Park. We all had a great day.

After a yummy lunch at Cafe Rouge in Knightsbridge, Kezia had a snooze in the buggy and we wandered over to St. James's Park. We had hoped that the pelicans would be wandering around on the paths, but they stayed firmly on their island. Still, not to worry - there was plenty else to see.

All over London at the moment, there are oodles of these painted elephant sculptures. They are all going to be auctioned off soon to raise money to help save Asian elephants from extinction. We found this one in St. James's Park, and Kezia was very pleased to be able to clamber all over him.

We took Kezia to Buckingham Palace to show her where the Queen lived. We didn't spot her, but at least we could look at the sentries on guard duty. "Go on soldiers, march!" Kezia shouted in their direction!

Luckily, although the palace guards weren't very exciting, we fared much better with these colourful soldiers on horseback, which Kezia was very interested in.

Two-thirds of a happy Team Browning on the way home on the train. I really did have a lovely birthday day out.

A lovely day with the Seftons

Last Saturday we met up with Johnny, Marie, Leo & Ava and went for a picnic in Palmer Park. The weather was scorching hot and we all had a really fun time. It was the first time we had met up for ages, so it was great to catch up. The kids had fun at the playground, then we sat in the shade for a yummy picnic and a game of footy, with plenty of fun and chat thrown in. It was a lovely day.

After our picnic lunch we worked off some energy with a game of football.

Daddy declared himself the winner. Kezia wasn't quite so sure!

Kezia and Leo had a lovely time playing together.

A kiss for Ava before heading home - thanks for a lovely day, Team Sefton!

Planting the sunflowers out

At the weekend it was time for the next stage of the Great Sunflower Race. The sunflowers have all grown too big for their pots now, so it was time to plant them out in the flowerbeds. Kezia (complete with new hair-do!) and Grandad did a great job!

Tidy Garden

As part of the general clean-up (while we have the skip) Grandad/Norman came round today and did a terrific job of clearing away all the weeds, brambles, stinging nettles and sundry old junk littering our back garden - we have a proper Kezia-friendly clean and tidy space to use for the summer now - thanks Grandad, it's brilliant!

What a load of rubbish!

At long last we got round to hiring a skip so that we could start to de-clutter. This lot is JUST from the garage!! The garage is clean and tidy again - we can play darts again! Ace! And the skip company sort & recycle up to 80% of what gets thrown out - so it's a win-win.

Princess tent (pink, of course!)

We'd been waiting for the weather to turn nice again so that we could play out in the Princess tent - today was lovely and warm, so we could give it a go!

'Let's be sad, Daddy!' said Kezia earlier (giggling!) - this was the result - love this picture!

Funny little thing....

Kezia made us roar with laughter with this quote today.....

Daddy (singing a silly version of a nursery rhyme): "Oh the Grand Old Duke of York, he had 10,000 sheep....."

Kezia (laughing): "10,000 sheep? That's not very sensible!"

Meadow Madness!

Today we went to the Meadow Madness Children's Festival down by the River Thames. We went last year with Gran and it was great fun to go back. Last year Kezia was too small for this huge inflatable slide, but this year she could go on it, and she thought it was absolutely brilliant. It was really high!

Kezia also had great fun on the stilts and this funny single roller-skate thing. After we had had a go on lots of things, we had a picnic lunch in the shade under a tree. It was all great fun.

Going on an adventure with Dora 'Splorer (that's Dora the Explorer, in case you didn't know!)

To cheer me up when I got home after my last day at work, we decided to go to our local woods to have a look at the bluebells. We had a great time wandering round, climbing trees and playing hide and seek.

One of Kezia's favourite things to do today was to play hide and seek, but we did manage to persuade her to pose for some photos

Climbing in the trees was lots of fun!

Arty nature shots!

This one is for you, James!

This evening, Tris went out to go to the corner shop and he called us excitedly to 'come and have a look'. When we got outside, we saw this Batmobile parked across the street! We presume it was for an end of school party for the girl and her boyfriend, although all the adults were having a go first. Needless to say, Kezia was much more interested in the girl's pink dress than the car!

Come on you Blades!

Yesterday, I went to meet my Swedish friend Erik and watch Ipswich v Sheffield United. Erik has been a United fan since 1982, and he and his friend Ulf had come over from Stockholm for the match. The Blades won 3-0, so Erik was delighted!

Some of Erik's friends had driven down from Sheffield for the match too, so we could all have a pre-match pint.

Ulf and Erik (and a very tiny Roy Keane!)

A big thumbs-up for the great seats we had. The view was perfect.

Thanks for organising the trip, Erik!

Indoor entertainment!

Kezia has been really quite poorly with a tummy bug the last few days, poor little mite, so we have been doing all sorts of indoor things to cheer her up. Finger and toe painting was a big hit!

Kezia was a little bit uncertain at first....

....but she soon got the hang of it!

Of course, you don't just have to use your hands and feet. A quick blob of red on your nose and, Hey Presto, you are Mr. Tumble!! We love these two photos

By the end we were covered in paint. It was great fun!
