York Uni get together

Two weeks ago, we all met at our friends Fee & Brian's house in Biggleswade for a reunion of the old York Uni crowd (plus hangers-on such as Tristan!). It was a lovely, lovely day - the first time we had seen some people in the group for over 5 years, and certainly the first time that the 5 Yorkies who went to Kiel together all those years ago had been together for even longer than that. We hope to have a few of the big group shots to put on here soon, but here is a quick one of the kids enjoying their al fresco lunch.

The Pangbourne 10k Race

Very small pictures here - you might need your magnifying glass! Back on September 12th, I ran in my first ever 10k race (at Pangbourne just outside Reading) - 5 of us met up to do the run - here we are beforehand (Robert, Claire, me, Liz & Mike). It was part of a training build up to a half-marathon I would like to do next year (though that is looking a bit unlikely now, but still) and it was great fun. I finished 228th out of 357 finishers!

And here we all are afterwards! I ran the route in a very pleasing 58 minutes and 51 seconds - not too bad for a beginner over a multi-terrain course. About 2 hours after this photo was taken I felt direly ill with what must have been dehydration, so I will learn that lesson for next time. Overall, the whole thing was great fun though.
