First visit in ages to our local country park, Dinton Pastures, enjoying the sun

At Dinton: the wildlife....

There are loads of rabbits at the playground.

...and the people

We always go and have a look at the 'wire man' (it's next to the café!)

Little Miss Helpful - helping Grandad clean the pond and helping Grandma sort out the loft

Messing about with silly hats!

Final day at pre-school - next stop: 'Big School' - eek!

Kezia in her proper full ballet outfit - shame she now has the whole summer holidays to wait until her next class

Woodley carnival

Weeks ago, back in June, it was the annual Woodley carnival and parade, and nowadays Grandma & Grandad live right on the route, so we could all gather in their front garden to watch the parade go by.

James, Rebekah, Kezia & Ruby getting into the carnival spirit

Sarah with Joe and their Mum

After quite a wait, the parade went past!

There were actually quite a lot of floats and things to see. It was fun to see them from our new vantage point!

Dubrovnik's own theatre of dreams

Just as an indulgence, I have posted 4 football related pictures to do with Croatia. I went and had a look at the local stadium while we were there, though I could really only see a little bit through a closed gate. This photo shows the ground in winter (taken from www.soccerway.com ). It was slightly hotter when we were there!

Far too hot to play while we were there - good job it was the close season!

Football artwork

The Dubrovnik clubs play in the lower divisions and the whole of southern Croatia seems to support Hajduk Split (from over 200 kms north of Dubrovnik). There were Hajduk murals at various points around town - this one was actually ON Dubrovnik's stadium wall.

Tea towel - with added football hooligan!

We bought this cheapo tea towel as a souvenir; I don't think the football fan is MEANT to be a hooligan, but it is a close run thing!

Croatia 2012

Well, here we are. All our holiday photos from Dubrovnik. It was wonderful.

An early start at Gatwick. The camera readout tells us that this photo was taken at 04.58 in the morning!

Kezia and Dr. Bear on their first ever flight!

Kezia loved the flight. She was very excited, she loved the 'whoosh' of the take-off and she liked being able to see the ground all tiny down below. She wasn't in the least bit worried or scared, which was great. The journey was a breeze.

Settling into our room - it was really nice

A much-needed lunch after our journey

This was 'pre-haircut'. It was so hot that I had my hair cut at the hotel hairdresser on the morning of the second day!

Happy to be on holiday (first lunchtime, just after we had arrived)

This is the life!

Very first dip! (in the saltwater pool)

Sarah & Kezia testing the temperature of the pool

The sea-view from the freshwater pool - not bad!

Our water-baby in the freshwater pool. By the end of the week, she didn't need the armbands any more.

The cliff-path to Lapad

The walk down to the local shops, restaurants and beach was a pleasant stroll down this path overlooking the sea. It was a favourite haunt of the streetwise stray cats though - Kezia kept a running total throughout the week - we got up to 44!

Our favourite ice-cream place. Yummy!

Swimming in the sea at the hotel - surprisingly hard work

Kezia was very happy to find Snow White in the park (shame she seems to have lost an arm!)

The fountain in Lapad - a nice spot for a rest

All dressed up for the evening - Kezia just about managed to fit us both into the photo!

'Downtown' Dubrovnik, just outside the old town walls

Given that it was 35 degrees, this fountain was VERY welcome

Just inside the Old Town gateway

Our brilliant holiday in Dubrovnik

Here are around 45 of the 60-odd photos that we are planning to upload from our wonderful week in Croatia. These are the last two-thirds, because we were trying to make them appear in chronological order. The blog site has 'gone funny' though and is not letting us upload the final 15 or 20 yet, so I will have to come back to that a bit later. These should keep you going anyway.

'Prikle' cakes!

We stopped at this cafe for an ice cream (of course) and the owner recognised us from seeing us near our hotel and gave us a free tray of mini Dubrovnik doughnuts, called 'Prikle' cakes - yummy!

We didn't actually buy this hat, though Kezia rather liked it....

Right - where shall we go next?

Daddy's two girls at the Old Town harbour

Dubrovnik cathedral

The Old Town was lovely, but so much nicer after about 5 pm, when the cruise ship crowds had left

Kezia down at the Old Town harbour

Kezia was very keen on this statue with a sword

Perched on a funky stone bench

At the Old Town

Our corner of town, Lapad - it was ace

Paddling in the sea (beware of sharp rocks!)
